Inventory stays “bring your JD” — not a job board.
Skills-fit is not the same as ATS keyword fit
A job matcher asks whether your experience overlaps the posting. An ATS checker asks whether the posting’s exact tokens appear in your text. You can match the work and still miss the acronym the recruiter filtered on. You can also share tokens and still be a weak skills match.
Use this page when you want a skills-first read: “does this JD look like work I have actually done?” Use the ATS checker next when you are ready to submit and need the language to survive a parse. Do not treat either number as an interview prediction.
Resume.win is not a job board and does not recommend openings. You paste a description you already found. That keeps inventory honest and keeps this URL about matching, not scraping listings.
When the matcher and the ATS checker disagree
Matcher high, ATS low usually means you described the work in your own words. Tailor titles, stack names, and domain nouns to the posting when they are true — then re-check ATS.
ATS high, matcher low usually means you mirrored language without the underlying experience. That is a skip, not a stuffing problem. Applying anyway wastes a kit and trains the wrong outcome history.
Both middling is common for a stretch role. Decide explicitly: tailor and apply, or save the JD and keep looking. The matcher is there to force that decision before you spend time on a cover letter.
What to do after you like the match
Save the result as an Apply Kit so the JD stays attached to the resume version you tailor. Generate a cover from that same posting. Mark Applied when you submit. Log reply, screen, or rejection later.
That history is the product. A one-off match score disappears. A kit tells you which resume versions earn replies for similar roles — software engineer, product manager, data analyst, and the rest of the Apply Kit role pages.
If you do not have a posting yet, start with the resume score for structure, then come back here when you have a live JD. If you are still writing the base resume, use the resume builder and treat this matcher as the second step.
How to use this page
- Bring your own job description. Paste a live posting from LinkedIn, Indeed, or a careers page. Resume.win does not list jobs.
- Paste the resume you would send. Use the draft for that role, not a master PDF you blast to every company.
- Read the skills-fit score. See overlap between what you have done and what the posting asks for — adjacent skills count more here than exact keyword spelling.
- Finish Apply Kit on that JD. Save the match, tailor the resume, write a cover, mark Applied, and log the outcome.
FAQ
- Is this a free resume job matcher?
- Yes. Paste a resume and one job description for a skills-fit score with no account. Finishing tailor, cover, and Applied is the free Apply Kit after signup.
- Will Resume.win find jobs for me?
- No. Bring a JD from LinkedIn, Indeed, or a careers page. We score the posting you paste. That is intentional — this is not a marketplace or a scraped job feed.
- Should I use the job matcher or the ATS checker first?
- Matcher first if you are deciding whether the role is real overlap. ATS checker first if you already decided to apply and need keyword coverage. Many people run both on the same JD.
- Does a strong match guarantee a callback?
- No. Fit scores help you tailor and choose. Outcomes still belong to the employer. Log what happens after Applied so you learn which versions get replies — we do not publish fake interview rates.
